“Porch Life” is an interactive musical structure located in the kids area at Jazz Fest. It was created by the New Orleans Airlift team and is inspired by the idea that porches can be transportive spaces for both kids and adults. The exploratory space includes marimbas made from old pine floors, chimes from salvaged pipes, and an instrument called the ‘bim bam’ which is a pipe that you hit with a flip-flop. Porch Life is built on wheels and has platforms that fold up so that it can go on the road
The team already has plans for a road trip this summer, starting with an invite from Bon Iver to attend a music festival in Wisconsin. But until then, you can catch Porch Life at the Fair Grounds for the next couple of days.
